Algebra Question for My Son?
I am not sure if they are asking for an actual number or a smaller equation. Here it is.
Each day old McDonald collects 106 gallons of milk. Each cow produces 12 gallons of milk and each goat produces 1 gallon of milk.
Let c represent the number of cows and g represent the number of goats.
This is the formula we came up with so far.
106=12c+1g Solve for how many c and g.
Just guessing I can see 8 for cows and 10 for coats. But how would you know that with two variables c and g?

you're right, you got the equation and you don't have the info on the numbers of cows or goats. he might collect 106 gallons just from the goats! i think it's more about putting it in to an equation so when given (possible next question_ they might say 'he has 6 cows so how many goats did he get milke from' then you can use the equation to solve it. As long as your son nd how the equation came about from the info-thats his lesson.

It looks like they are just looking for the equation, which you already have. There are 9 different integer solutions, but it wouldn't make sense to choose one over another.
