Male dog will NOT leave my female dog alone...?

My female dog was in heat for about 2 weeks but stopped bleeding about 5 days ago and all the swelling stopped. But my mother inaws dog will not leave her alone. If he's not directly beside her he is whining and whimpering. Even if he is by her he still does it. It's getting ridiculous.

And my poor girl is just trying to get away from him but can't because if he's nkt with her he drives us all nuts. And no, we will not be spaying her. She's a good dog and we, as well as other members of our family desire puppies. So please, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If she's not pregnant now, she soon will be ............. don't you KNOW that seasons in the b itch last for 21+ days. During the first week her discharge will be blood coloured. After that the discharge changes to a pale straw colour and isn't quite as copious. THIS IS THE TIME SHE'S READY TO MATE and as such, small wonder your male won't leave her alone!!!

FGS SEPARATE THEM. I am shouting because this is just ridiculous. Puppies shouldn't be having puppies. And your male shouldn't be put through all this - living with a b itch in season is actually cruel unless you are intending to mate the which heaven knows, you shouldn't be.

Best you can do this time around is get the dog right out of there. He's not going to switch off again now until her season HAS ended. And eventually she'll stop repelling him and they WILL mate.

As for not spaying her because you want puppies ............. sigh. You do realise that every time a b itch is in whelp, her life is at risk should it all go pearshaped and frankly if you don't know the basics even, chances are it will. She doesn't need motherhood or to be producing puppies just because you/your family want puppies. This is serious stuff and that isn't any reason to put her in whelp - only top quality dogs should be bred and frankly I seriously doubt your pet is top quality.

Your dog is still in heat! The time right after the bleeding stops is the time when the female usually accepts the male. I am not expert at this - never had a female unspayed dog but know that she is still in heat. Hormones are at play here and the male is going by instinct. You need to keep them separated. The longer the better. As far as not spaying her it is best that she be spayed but it is your decision. You have to put up with his anxiety at this point since you allowed her to be in heat - it is NOT his fault for his actions.

Don't complain that he male dogs will not leave your female dog alone because she's in heat.

That is one of the reasons that you spay and neuter pets - so they do not have to go through the frustration of not being able to breed. He's going to drive you nuts - because he wants to breed her.

If you want peace and quiet in the home without all the drama and mess - then you spay your female.

If you don't know about dog reproductive biology, do you know about dog genetics and what diseases your dogs are prone to get? If you are breeding dogs you need to make sure that you do your very best to make sure that you don't breed puppies which have inherited genetic diseases. The only way to do so is by getting both parents tested for the diseases their breed is prone to. This usually costs a lot of money, but it will save even more down the road at the vet.

Anybody who can't be bothered to do their best to breed puppies which are disease free shouldn't breed dogs.

Dogs are fertile AFTER the bleeding. The dog is trying to breed her. Unless your dog is a top quality purebred dog with genetic testing there is NO need to breed her to create more puppies to die in shelters.

Guarantee your so called relatives/friends won't want a puppy when they really are born and then you will be stuck with puppies and no homes. If they want a puppy, they can go adopt one at the shelter!

The female is in heat for THREE weeks, not two. When bleeding stops is when she is most fertile. I have no problem with ETHICALLY breeding dogs, but the minimum that is required to do this without killing your dog to make shelter fodder is to know the BASICS of canine reproduction.

Call the vet to set up a spay appointment. Clearly you have no business breeding.

Spay and neuter them. There's no reason what so ever for you to be a greedy BYBer and breed the dog. If you want puppies then go save a life by adopting but you rather be a BYBer and risk yoru dogs life giving birth to mutt puppies that will be dumped in shetlers

Get your dog spayed like a responsible pet owner. There are plenty of puppies out there bred by other ignorant people for your family to adopt.

You obviously know nothing about females in season. A bytch is in season for approx 20 days. Got it...20 days. not 2 weeks. It takes approx 10 days for her to be ready to be bred. She will be "hot" for approx 3 days, then will start to go out of season.

Your MIL's dog will not leave her alone because he knows, that she will be ripe to be bred soon.

When the staining has stopped, that a sign that the bytch is getting ready to be bred.

    Keep them seperated.

Not quite a year ago you posted a picture of your dog, a mini husky, malamute, and whippet mix. Now you choose not to spay her, because you want puppies from her. What a shame!
