Why do feminists turn a blind eye to the misogyny in Muslim countries?

If you knew ANYTHING about Islam, you wouldn't be asking this question. Anyway women here think that Islamic women are oppressed, but the Islamic women believe that the women here are oppressed. So it actually just depends on the point of view your looking at.

A Muslim woman wears Hijab to show modesty and humility. While western women please mere mortals, Muslim women please God.

"When a western women decides to live her life as a housewife to take care of her kids, she is respected by society for sacrificing for her children. A Muslim women does the same, but she is oppressed?"

"A nun can cover herself from head to toe, and she is respected for giving her life for God. A Muslim women does the same, but she is oppressed?"

Those who cannot understand other cultures, how can they possibly help with their problems.

Also you asked the question "Why do feminists turn a blind eye to the misogyny in Muslim countries?", why didnt you ask something like "Why do Americans turn a blind eye to injustice in Palestine?" Every day hundreds are being killed, why are the American people who preach for Justice not doing anything?

I asked my Iraqi friend (shes a girl) why she doesn't wear a hijab (i am not Muslim), and she said that the choice to wear a hijab and the hundreds other choices she makes are between her a God, and them alone. Not even her parents are included. It is a A to B conversation. Most Muslim women are perfectly happy with their lives. You cant help someone who is fine. You can not fix something, that is not broken.

You Americans always try to "help" other people, without realizing that your "help" might be more negativity in their lives. Have you ever been to an Islamic country? Have you ever talked to a Muslim woman from a Islamic country? Or are you just reading biased news about the oppression of Muslim woman? The news only shows something that is out of the ordinary. If out of some 1 billion Muslim women, a hundred are oppressed, that what the news will show...because it is different. And your perception is limited to that view. Learn more, its pretty easy. Try to understand others... that is harder.

I'll bet they don't turn a blind eye towards they horror that is religion's treatment of women. Islam is just the worst example.

It's a great question and I've asked this myself. I don't understand why women here in the US think they are so oppressed. You use slightly stereotypical gestures, or say words like "bossy", and all the sudden it's like you're putting a knife to their throat. Words are just words... if you choose to be offended then that's your business. Women in Islam are the REAL victims.

We don't it concerns us very much we speak out about it all the time, but it also doesn't mean we don't speak out against misogyny elsewhere as well, we can concentrate on more than one issue you know

Feminism is not from God. So a feminist has to turn a blind eye to female abuse as a house cannot be divided or it will fall. Neither are from God.
