Passport question?

For place of birth on a U.S. Citizen passport, does the city and state of birth get listed or just the state of birth along with U.S.?

    If the place of birth is in the United States, the state. If the place is outside the United States, the country.

    No city gets ever listed on a US passport.

    A 2007 a US Passport only listed only the state in the US.

    but the application needs to be filled out as requested.
