Why are we Not Seeing Best Answers?

That's the main problem with a site like this one. As there is no 'active' moderation, only that by the community, there is nothing in place to prevent an answer being given BA, even though it may be incorrect. a number of things may occur.

1/. Someone creates multiple accounts, then posts a question using one of those accounts, logs out of that one, then logs in to another, answers the question, then the reverse happens and gets the BA points. All this by one person.

2/. Someone posts a question, but has their friends answer it and report anyone who isn't in their 'circle'. One of these friends gets the BA points, even for a wrong and/or misleading answer, whereas any person who has posted an honest and truthful answer gets reported by all these friends.

Both of these examples happen on a regular basis, and is a blatant breach of the TOS but is allowed to continue. There is absolutely no point in appealing because all yu do is lose another 10 points.

I have enough points to no longer care, so I answer a question how it should be answered, and if it offends, too bad.

I have 4 questions waiting to be 'closed', but as none have received an answer I'm looking for, just presumptions, they will remain open.

The person who asked the question is the only one who can pick a best answer - and a lot of people don't bother. There used to be voting - but not for the past year.

Because only a handful of users are picking BA's on their questions and the community vote has been discontinued.

yeah, they dont bother, thats what gets me, they dont bother!!!!!why bother answering at all, its a waste of time???
