NEVER!
Please do NOT waste ANY of your money on Beats, because ALL Beats (Dr.Dre or without, does not matter) are massively overhyped and overpriced FASHION TOYS marketed VERY aggressively for gullible people who either do NOT CARE or do NOT KNOW a single thing about PROPER audio quality.
REPUTABLE manufacturers such as Sennheiser, Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Bang & Olufsen, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic and Audio-Technica have ALL been around for DECADES, so they KNOW what PROPER quality is all about! Therefore, they do NOT need any lousy rappers nor other wannabe celebrities to boost their sales.

Beats are complete overpriced, overhyped trendy garbage. You can buy a pair of cheap Sony, Sennheiser or Koss headphones for around $20 that are literally vastly superior headphones and cost a small fraction of the price.
Personally, I use Audio Technica ATH-M50 studio monitors and I would be hardpressed to find a better headphone for the price. They're also really light. Beyerdynamic DT-770 or DT-880 headphones should also be acceptable.

Beats are fashion accessories masquerading as audio equipment marketed to clueless children who think that all music consists of loose muddy bass.

If you like loud bass and great looking headphones then yes, but if your in a studio working with protools then no definatly not, when working in studio I use Sonys
