Can't speak for others but I hate long sleeve pullovers, and shortsleeve tshirts just aren't enough sometimes.
I LOVE those half-sleeves on jerseys. I know it sounds a little odd cause I'm always going on and on about how I hate spectator sports, but tthat's why I do it.
Would it be wrong to ask you why the question is hot right now, and why here?

No. And I'm not aware of any men who claim to wear them just because they're comfortable.

They wear them because they're black and most blacks can only identify with sports, rather than more intellectual pursuits.
