Do I have to file income tax this year?

This year will be my first time filing income taxes (If I have to file).

I graduated from college last June 2014' and started working in November 2014. I made less than 10k in those 2 months of 2014.

I also have a 1098t form through the university. I received scholarships and financial aid and I've been paying my student loan since November.

I'm single, independent and have no dependents.

Do I have to file for taxes this year?

Thank you!

Update:

I was also unemployed while in college. So I had no income until November 2014.

If you are truly not a dependent, no you don't have to file. If you're a dependent and made over 6200, you do. But there's a good chance that you are. How did you live that first ten months of the year? If from your scholarships and financial aid, and you were living on your own and pying your own bills, not living with your parents, you might not be a dependent. Interest paid on your student loans won't do anything taxwise for you, and most likely you wouldn't get anything for an education credit either.
