Installing SDD help?

Greetings all.

I have a gaming PC which is already fitted with HDD and Window 7 installed within it. From my understanding, the OS should be installed in SDD as well as applications for promising speed.

But since the OS is already installed on HDD, what should I do? Can someone give me a few simple steps?

Thank you.

To move your OS to a new drive (SDD or HDD) would require you to completely reinstall the OS on the new drive. As well as all programs. You can not just "move" the OS to the new drive.

You would need to first make sure you have a copy of Windows, a valid license key and all the drivers you will need for your hardware. Also make sure you have install disk for all your programs and anything else you want to reinstall. Make sure the drivers are not stored on the hard drive, but something like a USB memory stick.

Remove the HDD and install the SDD. Boot from a Win 7 install desk (or the restore partition for resetting your computer factory default.) Install Win 7. Add any drivers you need. Reinstall your programs and get everything working.

Then install the old drive as a secondary drive in the computer. Once installed, you can copy off of it any data files, etc that you want to keep. Then format the hard drive to remove Windows and all the program from it. You will not need them on that second hard drive. Put your data files back. You are ready to rock and roll

Get a Windows 7 install disc, disconnect all hard drives except for the SSD. Go into the BIOS of your PC (boot up screen, might have to tap the DEL/DELETE key to enter) and make sure the CD/DVD Rom is set as the first boot device, then save and exit the BIOS. Pop in the Win7 install disc and at some point it will ask you to tap a key to start the install, the rest is downhill.

If you have to download a Win7 install disc illegally, so be it, but avoid running Windows Update.
