LilyRT nailed it. The LMN network is definitely geared toward women, and the Lifetime execs obviously think it's easier for a female audience to relate to women who have to deal with the corrupt, morally wrong, sometimes-abusive man.
I'm not saying it's a good strategy, but it seems to work for them.

the same reason the women on the playboy channel are always bimbos with big boobs. the target audience.
(i never watch lmn, but it's definitely aimed toward women)
