Should you tell your life story in an interview so the hiring manager gets to know who you are?

No. It will tell them that you are self-centred, unable to prioritise and unable to organise your thoughts concisely. You are selling yourself or, more specifically, you are selling your ability to do the job the hiring manager wants done. If it doesn't do that, don't say it.

Are you kidding me with this? What makes you think that they are interested in your life story?! They only care about your academic and professional achievements!

That's a bit dumb. Don't exactly see how any job would want to know the steamy details of the one day your mom and dad conceived you.

No, they don't need to know your life story.
Just what you can bring to the job.
