Sun conure rough grooming?
I have a sun conure that's about 8months old. I hold him all the time and he likes to groom me often, unfortunately his grooming can get pretty rough. I have two moles, one on my shoulder and one on my chest, he's decided these must be ripped up violently! He's almost ripped the one on my chest off! How do I get him to be more gentle? I don't want to reject him.

train him like you would train bim not to bite. once my new cockatiel is more comfortable in our home i'm going to start training him not to try to rip my earrings out.... birds like tiny things they can get their beaks around. it can be painful.

I had a dog once who, after just licking it for months, suddenly tried to bite off a mole on my husband's shoulder. I sent him to the kid's dermatologist the next day. He removed it and a biopsy showed it was cancerous. I don't know if birds are the same way but why not have those moles removed? Cheaper than having your car detailed.

Mole removal is painless, wise, and not expensive. Remove the moles your conure is interested in, and problem solved.
