ICC want to increase the depth of international cricket.?

What do they propose to do, decrease the teams in a world cup.

What they should do is increase it to 24 teams with four groups and the two top teams in each group qualify for the quarter finals. With five games in each group and an increase in the playing pool.

T20 is the future with a real chance of entering into the Olympics. 48 teams, two knock out rounds where they play each other twice, then scaled down to 24 and let the competition begin. Who cares about quality its all about making money.

I agree with you mate. Either scratch limited overs cricket totally or INCREASE THE COUNTRIES ICC you greedy little elite pleasing faction. We dont want your same old "bilateral tours" for ODI cricket it just waste the time of viewers and has no real prestige or SIGNIFICANCE involved whatsoever except the false hype created by paid media . Truth is NO SANE person gives a HOOT to those "series" played for the umpteenth times every year! Tell me if im wrong !!? They're fine for the test cricket has a legacy to it .....but very concept of the limited overs cricket was meant to expand the game . And the decision to reduce next world cup to 10 countries only shows how corrupt the icc is.

    EDIT:

The "one sided" matches take place between established teams too. To give you some examples from this world cup itself..

west indies slaughtered pakistan by 150 RUNS!!

Sri lanka annihilated england by 9 WICKETS!

SA murdered West Indies by 257 RUNS!

Add to that the close matches we had between

Scotland 142 lost to NZ 146-7

SL scraping though Afghanistan's target in 49th over losing 6 wickets

Zimbabwe lose to pakistan by 20 runs!!

and did i mention Ireland's WIN over west indies by 4 wickets

I mean if ICC try to invest in these teams and give them more matches to gain EXPERIENCE they will surely progress and cricket can finally be sport that people would hear about outside subcontinent and couple of countries outside subcontinent.. Not all countries suffer from bangladesh syndrome. bangladesh is case study because that country lacks self esteem in all fields not just cricket. Its a shame that ICC only cares about money and not globalisation of the sport.

The logistics and cost involved to hold a World Cup on that scale would be astronomical and doomed to fail, I don't think you have thought this through. As for putting cricket in any format in the Olympic Games it would be pointless, the ICC already has the World Cup and World T20 that are 6-7 weeks in length and shared by a dozen or more venues across 2 or 3 countries, the limitations of an Oympics would make it totally lame. You say who cares about quality it's all about making money, but isn't the best way to make money to preserve quality, you can't have it both ways.

Mate that is a bit overly ambitious and complicated.

24 teams in the World Cup and 48 teams in the Olympics playing each other 2wice!

You realise the Olympics is only 2 weeks long in one place not 6 months?

How about you scale it back a bit?

You say its all about making money but your model would have about 95 per cent of the matches very boring and one sided and being watched by tiny audiences, how exactly is that supposed to make money?

Nice idea but needs a lot of work.

Almost all the countries of the world now playing cricket. It is good sign for the sport. You will see more and more countries are participating in this game in future.
