if greenland is bigger than africa then why does africa have more countries?

Greenland is quite small in land mass compared to Africa. Looking at a flat map of the world is highly misleading because no country is shown in it's true size. The world is spherical and the only way to really gauge the size of countries is to look at a globe of the world. As for there being many countries in Africa, you need to keep in mind that Greenland, though large, is permanently covered in ice and snow, only the Western coastal strip is habitable. In addition, it was uninhabited until the Vikings arrived, whereas Africa is the cradle of humanity.

Africa is a continent made up of countries and Greenland is not a continent, it is just a big country. It's that simple

Australia is an island and a continent and is 7,617,930 km2.
