Replace a lost title to a motorcycle?
I purchased the bike privately and somehow I can't find the title. Would I need to pick up a notary before heading to the DMV or just go straight to DMV and waste 2 hours of my life standing in line? Also, what all do I need so I don't deal with anymore hassle while I wait
Also, my registration has expired a month ago.
The State I am in is North Carolina

Had you transferred the title into your name before you misplaced it? If so, simply purchase a duplicate title from the NC DMV. If not, you will have to go back to the original seller and pay them to purchase the duplicate title, which again will need to be signed over to you. Also, once you have the clear title in hand be sure you have proof of current insurance coverage on the bike before heading back to the DMV.

If it's registered ( titled) in YOUR name all you have to do is apply for a duplicate title. Might cost you $25 at the most. If you never did title it in YOUR name you're SOL and have a nice lawn ornament. Only option is to find whoever the registered owner is and have him/her apply for duplicate title and sign it over to you

Notaries are pretty heavy unless you can find a cute young one. You should be able to request a replacement title.
