Working at Airport?

How would i be able to get a job working at an airport like as a baggage handler or something along those lines? Ive always wanted to work at an airport because i love airports and airplanes. Is it hard getting one of those jobs? And where do i apply on the airline website or the airport website. Im 19 years old so would i be able to get the job?

If you want to work as a baggage handler/ticket agent/gate agent (many times these three jobs are all lumped together under the title 'passenger services agent' and you are cross-trained to work all areas), then you will need to apply directly to the airlines. If you want to be a TSA agent you need to apply directly to the TSA (but it is a VERY lengthy process, I know someone who was offered a job with the TSA a little over a YEAR after applying--they REALLY dig in to your background). Many of the shops and restaurants in airports are operated by Paradies Shops, (I know they always post a link to their job openings online). Lastly, for other airport jobs such as custodian and the like--I'm not sure if it depends on the airport or what, but for the airport I live near you have to apply through the city. At any rate you should be able to find out how to apply for all available positions online, and some may allow you to apply online. I would recommend having a resume. And be aware that with airline jobs your schedule will probably be all over the place, you'll pretty much have to have 24/7 availability (including holidays), you may not get full time hours for awhile (everything goes by seniority, and the current part-timers will move into full-time positions as they become open--as well as getting the good schedules), and you will probably have to join a union. I had two interviews for a PSA job with an airline one time, finally found out how it worked and realized that I couldn't live with the messed up hours and couldn't be available at a moment's notice--because I have children. At your age though, you may be perfect for the job. Good luck!

Many jobs at Airports. You can look at your local Airports websites.

First look at any Airlines that fly from there. They may use private contractors for their ground crew if they only have a few flights.

There are jobs like Fuel filler. Plane Grooming that often are done for many Airlines by one company. Look under Ground service (Air side)

Flightaware has good web links for this.

Many Airports host a website for jobs for the many companies that hire at their particular Airport. Look on the Official site for the Airport Management Company not the Airline for this.
