do people ever faint when they are in labor and if so does it mean there might be something wrong with the baby?

They do. Sometimes it means something is wrong with them or the baby, sometimes it means that the pain is overwhelming or the stress and exertion is overwhelming.

Not with the baby, but you could be anemic and that can explain you fainting, you can be given iron supplements for that, and it won't affect the baby, also folic acid is not uncommon :)
