What does feminism mean to you?

What does it entail? Is it simply supporting equality between the sexes, or is there more to it? What about a person would make them a feminist or not in your view?

Feminism to me is something that claims to be for equal rights, but rather focuses on providing one sex with more rights than the other, or will completely ignore problems for the other gender. Feminism generally ignores problems for women in developing countries.

I believe that may back in the <1900, feminism was much needed and focused on women having the exact same rights as men did. Now, it's pretty much not needed in developed nations, but yet I see a lack of any feminists in developed countries helping women in developing countries--where it is still definitely much needed!

"feminism" does not mean anything anymore. the fact that someone needs to ask a question like yours proves that. wouldn't you think it meant the same thing for everyone? well it doesn't and that is why it is a complete sham.

a modern feminist is no different from those fake Christians who pick and choose certain Bible passages to follow and certain ones to ignore. "Feminism" is just a tool used by women to justify any decision they may make, and to criticizes others for doing something they disagree with.

it used to stand for equality, which is funny because modern feminists stand for the exact opposite.

i'm 100% for gender equality, equal pay, women's rights, etc. etc. i'm not a feminist.

Feminism is the supposed "equality of the sexes". However, feminists tend to focus more on women's issues, hence their name.

To me, a feminist is someone who identifies as a feminist but laughs at labels like egalitarian because women's issues for some reason are much more important. Basically I think feminists say they're for one thing but actually support something completely different.

Actions speak the loudest. Selfishness is not equality, and petty social issues aren't comparable to what actual victims of opression went through. A housewife bored out her mind didn't have it as bad as a slave of a Vietnam draftee. Such people who think they're victims really should try counting their blessings as well as their shortcomings.

Modern day fem to me means sexism, hatred, and censorship. They want to undue all the things old school feminism accomplished. They are against sex. It's just ridiculous

50 years ago, feminism meant equal pay, fair treatment at work, and so on. today, it has come to mean special privileges and special treatment.

Feminists are those who feel that women should have at least roughly the same legal *and social* rights as men. Everything else is just details.

It means giving women the same rights and opportunities as men and thus making women equal to men (I don't mean physically).

It means boys are discriminated against in education, it means female owned businesses are favored over male owned businesses, it means women are favored in hiring under affirmative action, it means male victims of domestic violence are denied access to domestic violence centers, it means men subsidize free serves for women under Obamacare, it means feminists have a council for women and girls to represent their political interests, but males are denied the same, it means mothers were usually advantaged in child custody, it means males are cut from sports, it means males accuses of sexual assault on college campuses get a kangaroo court instead of proper due process. It goes on and on.

Despite claims to be about equality, feminism means we have many, many policies that gender discriminate which are a direct result of feminism fighting for such policy.
