Why would you say video games don't make good movies?

Would you say it's because they don't transfer well, and are meant to be watched instead of played? Or is it just that Hollywood is lazy and doesn't stick to source material? Give me your thoughts.

It depends on the video game, but there are some that I thought would have made great movies and just fell flat out of Hollywood production. I notice that some of these newer games have a very cinematic feel to them, and some have motion picture-level quality with superb voice acting, plot/character developments, and effects. I see no reason why the status of being a video game negates any possibility of a good film.
