Should I enroll for Medicaid if I already have some doctor appointments scheduled?
I went to the hospital today because I am having some health issues. I am uninsured and they scheduled me for two MRI's this coming Friday and an EMG test on April 3rd. I'm wondering if I should try to apply for medicaid now, or is too late? Or would it be cheaper without the insurance? Because at my last clinic visit they gave me a 45% discount for being uninsured. I know MRI's can be very expensive, and this is the first time I've ever had to go to the doctor for something serious. I'm not very knowledgeable about insurance so if anyone has any opinions or recommendations I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Medicaid is not insurance, it is welfare. If you qualify, you can apply at any time. It usually takes 3 weeks to 3 months to approve a policy, but sometimes they'll backdate the effective date.
Depending on your level of income, you may have full welfare and won't have to pay anything, or you may have share-of-cost welfare, where you have to pay the first $XX.xx of your medical expenses each month. Nobody here will know for what you qualify or if you even do qualify.
