A rectangular lot is 60 by 70 feet. A diagnoal brick line goes down the middle. What is the length of the diagnoal.?

    60^2+70^2=x^2

    3600+4900=x^2

    8500=x^2

    X=square root 8500

    Use the Pythagorean Theorem.

    diagonal = √(60²+70²) ft

    Square root of ( (60 x 60) + (70 x 70) )

    Square root of 3,600 + 4,900

    Square root of 8,500

    equals 92.1965 rounds up to 92.2 feet

    generally sqrt(8500). Unless you have to account for the width of the brick.

    √60x60+70x70 =√3600+4900=√8500=92.2ft
