Does a Rainsoft water softener reduce water pressure?

Update:

We have had a Rainsoft system for 4 years now and out water pressure is very low. It's difficult to shower while another appliance or sink is running. I don't think our neighbors have this problem. Though the system was expensive, I'm thinking about getting rid of it. Can I install a simple charcoal filter to reduce minerals instead, without the reduction in water pressure and exorbitant maintenance costs?

There may be a pressure reduction valve fitted upstream from the softener,. These need cleaning from time to time so may be clogged. My softener had to have it's incoming pressure reduced from 6 bar to 5 bar to operate properly. So before you scrap your softener you should investigate further. You can buy water pressure testers to test what the mains supply is. You will miss the soft water if you get rid of it and a charcoal filter will not soften at all. Delve more deeply I am sure you can increase the pressure.
