Stunning or halal slaughter, which is more peaceful for the animal?
Eating meat we cannot avoid but we can make the process as peaceful as possible for the animal we slaughter. Therefore the age old question arises: Stunning or halal slaughter, which is more peaceful for the animal?
Research reveals that even if brain had no activity; in other words even an animal was clinically dead it still had consciousness. Please see the video on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_qBIw7qyHU
On the other hand halal slaughtering completely disconnects the brain or sensory system of the body that the animal goes through less pain. Please see one of the videos:

patiently, once again: Youtube is not a reliable source of anything. Show me a respected ag university or USDA study and I'll consider your point. The claim that a brain dead animal is conscious is breathtakingly ignorant.
But I suggest the normal method of killing cattle for food (moving them in groups, quietly, knocking them out with a captive bolt pistol, cutting their throat so they bleed out and never wake up) is less stressful than stringing them up by their back legs, takig time to pray over them, awake and aware, and cutting their throat.
But that's just my opinion. Not being a religious person, I think the Halal and Kosher methods of slaughter are unnecessary here in the US and should be stopped. Once upon a time, it was a health issue, I think. They needed to be sure the animal was alive and healthy, but that's not the case here todsy.
