If one files for bankruptcy, would that information be printed in the local newspaper?

If so, why does it have to be made public?

Yes, it is public record, done so that all the creditors know.

It's public record, but that doesn't make it news.

So unless you're famous or a public figure, the newspaper isn't going to care if you file for bankruptcy because you're not newsworthy.

It is public record so you can bet it is printed in the local or some other newspaper.
