What insurance companies will allow me to drive for uber?

I live in Connecticut, and I'm looking for an insurance company who will let me purchase a policy that covers me both when I am using the vehicle for my personal use and also when I am transporting passengers using uber. Does anyone know of any companies that won't charge an arm and a leg for that kind of policy? Any and all suggestions appreciated

You won't find many insurance companies at all that will insure a taxi, and none of them will be anything even close to cheap.

Taxi insurance is a specialty business, and most insurance companies won't touch it with a ten foot pole. Where I live (Ontario), there are 200 insurance companies doing business and only 3 of them will insure a taxi. And one of them is the Facility Association, which is the last resort for high-risk drivers. It's not going to be very different in Connecticut.

You won't be able to get a quote for taxi insurance online, but you can find a provider. Then give them a call and ask for a quote, and try not to swear too much when you hear the price.

If you insure your car with a regular insurance company and just don't tell them you're contracting with Uber, they'll simply refuse to cover you if an accident happens while you're carrying paying passengers. And they'll get away with it, because they all (yes all) have a clause about that very thing in their contract wordings.
