Someone asked earlier why all Christians had an IQ under 30. A Christian said to say that is persecution. Is it?
I do not agree with it - of course - but is it really persecution to say that?

Funny thing about insults is after you gain enough knowledge you find out that they are invariably hypocritical -- the pot always calls the kettle black, the eye seeing yellow is jaundiced. It's a sure thing, not 99%, but actually 100%.
So, this kind of insult is 'persecution' only at a young age, until you mature, and then it should more elicit your compassion.
A person making an insult is actually someone who suffers, and is in a bad place mentally. They need our compassion more than anything.

No. Not hardly. Persecution is when a priest insights a riot to attack two women offering to teach people about the Bible.
Persecution is when the Russian government is so scared of your work, it tries to throw everyone into prison and ban all literature about Bible subjects as subversive. Even a book of children's stories!
Persecution is when you are between 600-1,000 prisoners sentenced to 20 years for obeying the Bible when it says "to be no part of the world" and "be neutral in all political and military affairs". So they refuse military service and the government refuses to provide any alternatives.
That is persecution. One person calling you names does not even get on the radar.

It's not persecution imo, but I suppose if you consider that any ill treatment on account of one's faith, race, ethnicity, etc. is persecution, then by that definition, it would be persecution. It hardly stacks up to being imprisoned and tortured, which is the sort of thing we tend to think of as persecution.

Due to the loose definition of persecution, some could cry that. It's a bit like a man tapping someone on the shoulder in irritation, and that person shouting "Help, I'm being assaulted!"
hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of race or political or religious beliefs.
"her family fled religious persecution"
synonyms: oppression, victimization, maltreatment, ill-treatment, mistreatment, abuse, ill-usage, discrimination, tyranny; More
persistent annoyance or harassment.
"his persecution at the hands of other students"

Persecution (definition from Google):
hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of race or political or religious beliefs.
"her family fled religious persecution"
synonyms: oppression, victimization, maltreatment, ill-treatment, mistreatment, abuse, ill-usage, discrimination, tyranny; More
persistent annoyance or harassment.
One joke question does not constitute "persecution" in my opinion. Now if the person in question constantly or habitually harasses Christians, that might qualify as rather mild persecution. I frequently post questions here that poke fun at biblical literalists and other religious types. But I don't believe my poking fun rises to the level of persecution.

No, it's criticising them. It's persecution when you refuse to serve them in public businesses. Kind of what they enjoy doing to the gays.
Also, I think you've given them too much credit. They have the IQ of the leprechaun living in my yard. In other words, non existent.

No. I'm a Christian and it's just someone's way of making themselves feel better and/or superior. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

No, it's an insult. Here's another insult--look up persecution in the dictionary you morons.

yeah. Mildly. The guy who said it was obviously not too bright himself. I mean, it's kind of like a homeless guy making fun of you because you don't have enough money to buy a BMW, but it could be viewed as a statement of hostility.

Oh - christians LOVE to be persecuted. They'll keep their eyes open wide for an excuse to be persecuted. It makes them feel SO holy....... or, as they used to say, holier than thou.
