Dani
Hello! I'm Dani, 33, Bisexual - I run my own business where I make wedding, birthday & event invitations for my clientele. 3 years ago I started questioning my beliefs and soon after became an atheist. I hang out at the R&S board when I'm bored or have down time.
My laptop doesn't have an input/output holes for a headset/mic...?
Is there a such thing as a converter plug that I can plug my headset into, and then plug it into a USB port or something?
1 AnswerAdd-ons5 years agoAtheists: Have you ever been personally responsible for turning someone into an atheist? Did you feel bad? If no, would you feel bad?
Personally, I don't really argue religion with any of my family. Not because I'm scared that they'll disown me, but because I'm afraid that I could actually cause them to stop believing in god. For my brother, it seems like religion is a strong part of his life and I do think that his faith got stronger because of his wife. But I do think there is some weakness there and if I'm able to "debate" him then he could stop being religious and I would feel bad being responsible for that.
I also feel that I could stop my mom from believing, because I already discussed religion with her a little bit, and the things I told her she had no idea about and couldn't believe. I do feel that if I hammered on about it, I could stop her from believing.
How do you guys feel about it?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoFellow Atheists (or anyone that likes to read about the history of the Bible): What do you think of Richard Carrier?
I really want to read his books, but whenever I listen to his stuff on YouTube, he seems so arrogant and always criticizes other Biblical historians (like Bart Ehrman). He seems to have like a personal vendetta against him.
I don't have any education in theology, so I don't know who to listen to when it comes to the subject.
Is his arrogance valid? I could understand him being arrogant because he's annoyed that other authors are more popular when their work isn't as thorough and factual as his work is. Or does he just have fat head?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoFellow Atheists - Do you ever get scared from scary/horror movies? Or does anything ever spook you out?
I was watching a thing about Elisa Lam on YouTube - her mysterious death (go check it out if you haven't heard of it) and now I'm totally wigged out.
Of course, I don't believe in ghosts, but dammit, I'm still freaked out and I almost want to call my friend and wake him up at 2:43am so I don't feel so scared. LOL
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoSomeone asked earlier why all Christians had an IQ under 30. A Christian said to say that is persecution. Is it?
I do not agree with it - of course - but is it really persecution to say that?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoChristians here's a scenario: You're the owner of a bakery and....?
1. A gay couple comes in and wants to buy a wedding cake. Do you serve them?
2. An atheist couple comes in and wants to buy a wedding cake. Do you serve them? (You know they're atheists because you overhear them talk about not wanting a pastor/clergymember to wed them and how they don't want a church wedding and how you don't want their vows to be based on god. They're talking as they're waiting in line.)
3. A mom and daughter come in and the daughter is clearly arguing with her mom and showing her no respect. The daughter is a brat and seems spoiled. The mom came with the daughter because she is paying for her wedding cake and her fiance is at work. Do you serve the daughter even though she is breaking the 5th commandment?
4. A Muslim comes in and wants a cake, do you serve them? The Muslim is breaking commandment #1.
5. A nice couple walks through the door and the girl twists her ankle because she's trying to break in her wedding heels and she says "Jesus Christ, ****!" as she almost falls down. Do you serve them? Even though she's breaking the 3rd commandment?
Just wondering...
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoTheists: How do you feel about it soon being a possibility for a gay couple to biologically father a child together?
Unfortunately, not likely to be a possibility for two women, just two males to be both biologically related to the child.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoAre you a gnostic theist or an agnostic theist? And why?
gnostic theist = you claim to "know" there is a god.
agnostic theist = you don't claim to "know" but you believe anyway
