Fellow Atheists - Do you ever get scared from scary/horror movies? Or does anything ever spook you out?

I was watching a thing about Elisa Lam on YouTube - her mysterious death (go check it out if you haven't heard of it) and now I'm totally wigged out.

Of course, I don't believe in ghosts, but dammit, I'm still freaked out and I almost want to call my friend and wake him up at 2:43am so I don't feel so scared. LOL

Real stuff doesn't spook me, I can go for a walk in the woods at 2 in the morning when everybody else is saying "ooh no, it's dark, don't go in there" and i'm perfectly fine. It's the music that does for me, take a horror movie and turn the sound down and it's generally pretty comical, use music to build the tension and punctuate the on screen action and I jump out of my socks like a little girl :(

Of course i feel spooked out and get frights from movies etc, they are designed to scare you.

As an atheist im still human lol, my survial instincts all work perfectly well lol.

But if we are talking about practical things like going for a walk in woods, i would be wary of the real threats such as wild animals, people out to do no good etc.

And i have been on ghost hunts, like most people im curious, dont believe in ghosts, but hey, they are a fun night out if you like to throw science out the window, but i found most of the time i was worried about toxic mold, broken glass, and stairs i couldnt see and might fall down :( at no stage did i even think ghost.

Not really, no. I grew up with trully classic horror movies, like The Exorcist and Psycho so I have a rather high standard when it comes to such films. Today's horror productions are simply not as good as the older ones. They're trying too hard with the special effects and they neglect the story.

I never watch them. Fear is painful and I am not into self-harm. That kind of fear also causes brain changes that I prefer not to have - having spent years undoing the brain damage that the fear of end times of Christian prophecy did to me

    "Fellow Atheists"?.....

We look at reality...We don't get "spooked out" by the metaphysical fiction of man's imagination.
