No, Christianity is not supposed to be a theocracy. Many historians would agree that the decline of Christianity did not begin merely during the enlightenment, but way before that when It was made the official religion of the Roman Empire. Christ called his disciples to be martyrs (If you want to be mine you must deny yourself take up your cross ad follow me). You cannot be a martyr and a ruling governing official at the same time. Governing officials must worry about politics not the things of God. As Christ said, one cannot serve two masters for he will love one and hate the other.

This is in fact what happened after Christianity conquered Rome. Many of the leaders of the Chruch became corrupt, worried not about the kingdom of God but instead the empire of Rome and their share in its glory. I personally (no offence to Roman Catholics) think that this was the principle reason behind Bishop of Rome calling himself infallible. This same thing can be said even within the Eastern orthodox church as well. The byzantine empire was littered with corruption. This is why the Monastic life had and still has, become vital to the christian faith. the men and women who leave civilization behind in search of God, are the only ones free from corruption.

Christianity flourishes in suffering. Because it is the life of the cross that can only find the true joy for which Christ alone can bring. This is why I personally am glad to see the rise of secular society. because the end of Christianity in the world is only another beginning. Christ said that the gates of hell will not prevail against his church. Because hell is the very path of her salvation. As Paul said, The cross is foolish to the world. If they knew the wisdom behind the cross they would not ahve crucified Christ" (paraphrase)

One must be careful of what they say they will support for that Theocracy may not be based in Christianity. If you can subvert one persons religion, faith or belief then you can subvert anyone's.

I'm a Mormon and the only Theocracy I would support would be when Christ reigns personally on the earth when He returns.

No way! There was a reason for the separation of church and state that our forefathers thought of ahead of time. Remember this is one reason we left England. Think of how quickly corrupt that would go! No. No. No. And I am a christian and a conservative.

The best form of government tested so far is democracy. Theocracy has failed always.

I'm so sick of politics and religion. I grew up in a secular household and had even blossomed into an agnostic young lady, and I am republican. I wish all of the republicans out there who are religious would just create their own political party! I'm sick of being associated with them.

Nah, mixing Church and State is a lovely way to corrupt both of them

Too bad they wouldn't live long enough to enjoy it. I mean, what could be more fun than living in Iran?
