If you are a good painter, with quality work and clean up well, you could paint interiors in colder weather, and exteriors in warmer weather. Things that play into painting are moisture, humidity, new construction, painting old surfaces, and knowing your paints. Certain paints cannot be used on top of other paints, for instance. If you are knowledgeable about paint and have an eye for color, you could do very well and be employed year round. I would talk to some local painters to see what they have to say about seasonal end of painting.

Depends on how long your seasonal layoffs are - you can't paint in winter in the north till it warms up enough outside.
