Find the acceleration of an object that is 34km above the surface of the Earth.

    By the inverse-square-of-distance law,

    a = g * (6371km / (6371 + 34)km)² = 0.99g = 9.7 m/s²

    OR use Newton:

    a = GM / d² = 6.674e−11N·m²/kg² * 5.98e24kg / ((6.371 + 0.34)e-6m)²
