using Gumout jet spray carburetor cleaner in the gas tank?
I wanted to use something I know is pretty strong in the gas tank of my 2000 Maxima to clean the fuel injectors. What do you think about doing this?

If I were you I would ring the service department of any Nissan dealership and ask about this. Many years ago after I purchased an Infiniti QX4 and drove it to 100,000 miles I had ask about these fuel injector cleaners. Infiniti, in general, does not recommend these products. Neither does Audi. They are not needed. IF the vehicle is having issues it is best to seek the proper care from a specialist. If there is a problem it just needs to be corrected properly. The terms "carburetor" and "fuel injectors" are not compatible and fuel systems can be damaged with the best of intentions. Consumer Reports did a test of several products years ago using different model cars as to year and brand and miles and found zero benefits from them. My 2001 Audi TT is approaching 100,000 miles and runs well in spite of using regular gas instead of the "recommended" premium fuel. No adverse effects of any type.

In the early days of fuel injection, fuel filters were not as good as they are now. They let small pieces of dirt through, which would clog up the injector.
That's pretty much unheard of these days.
If your car has issues, it's most likely some other cause.

it will strip the lining from the inside of the fuel tank and block the pick up sock. find the correct stuff in an autopart store. it is not a scam, btw. deposits will build up in the injectors and the spray pattern will be effected.

Agree with most everything here. The only way to "clean" injectors is to pull them, and have a professional disassemble them, clean them, then flow test.
Gasoline is an EXCELLENT solvent, anything you could put in the fuel that worked better would damage your fuel system components.

Why do you think your fuel injectors need cleaning? They have had gasoline pumping through them at high pressure all their lives!
I guess you've bought into the hype. Injector cleaning is a scam.
