You're not crazy at all. What's crazy is a society that condemns, criminalizes, rejects, and feels awkwardness, embarrassment, and shame about something as perfectly natural as the very bodies and skin that each and every individual in that society has. You're absolutely right that being nude is our most natural (and comfortable) state. Yesterday it was a damp, cloudy day in the mid 50s while I was doing some work outside; I was nude the whole time and felt perfectly comfortable. It made cleanup from the work a snap. Anyway, it's a long answer to your question so I'll try to summarize. Laws against nudity are religious in origin. A couple thousand years ago the religious leaders wrote their books and declared the naked body (and just about anything else that was comfortable and pleasurable in life) to be sinful and wrong. (I swear, it's like they were sadomasochists because they declared pleasures in life to be sinful and suffering in life to be the fast track to heaven.) Anyway, throughout history religion and the church had a powerful direct influence on society and the laws. Kings did what the church told them to do. As societies became more democratic, church leaders and highly religious people were in power, doing "god's work" for the good of the people. Since the church was opposed to nudity, of course over time there were laws put in place to ban nudity outside of private settings (and sometimes even within private settings if there was more than one person present). Such laws persist to this day and at times still get passed. Because of religious doctrine and social law condemning nudity as something to be ashamed and embarrassed about, it's created a society that has an intensely deep phobia about nudity. People love to see it and get a thrill from it, but are still embarrassed and awkward about it, especially if children see it too. Because of that phobia about nudity, very few people in society want to try challenging those laws and nobody in political office is willing to try repealing them because they'd be laughed out of office. Instead, now and then they pass "emergency" ordinances outlawing nudity in places where it was legal, even if rarely seen, and was never a problem before until somebody bïtched and sicced their priest on them. They'd rather keep their jobs than do what upholds the freedom and liberty of the citizens. Such laws may be the norm but that doesn't make them right. The "Adam & Eve" story was purely figurative, and theological scholars will confirm that for you. When they ate that apple they realized that they'd disobeyed the orders of their god and realized their souls were naked and vulnerable. So, they put on fig leaf coverings (over their most sensitive parts) as a way of hiding their naked vulnerable souls from their god's stink-eye. The nakedness of their physical bodies was not the issue, although over time that's how the story has been interpreted to say. There is no logical, sensible reason for people to be ashamed or embarrassed about their bodies. It's certainly not an instinctual feeling since children have no such shame and have to be taught such feelings by their parents (if the parents are not naturists). And the naturist/nudist community shows that people can easily shed all such feelings of shame and embarrassment and be perfectly comfortable to go nude privately or in the presence and direct sight of others. If you feel like you want to become a nudist then please give it a try! Start by going nude at home just to get used to it. Read up about it and talk with naturists online. Maybe even try visiting a naturist resort or nude beach. Even if you don't like it at least you'll know (but I guarantee you'll love it). Comments of "nobody wants to see that" or "the children might see it" are nothing more than opinion and irrational fears. Children don't care until their parents teach them to freak out. The comment about butt hygiene is a legitimate concern but is easily fixed by (1) regularly bathing and maintaining a higher level of cleanliness, and (2) the common nudist practice of sitting on one's own towel at all times. The comment about "humans are pretty horny animals" is stupidly illogical. Clothing has never prevented humans from getting horny and having sex, and instead the taboo about nudity only leads people to want to see each other with their clothes OFF. Second, when people are used to nudity it's no big deal any more and the association between nudity and sex is broken down. Third, public sexual activity and sexual harassment is already illegal; there's no reason that should change. The nudist community gets along just fine without open sexual activity.

God has been wearing the same old robe for centuries. And he is feeling very insecure about how people will make fun of him. But where can he go shopping for a new robe if everyone recognizes him?

That which does not exist can not hide. Those who believe in that which does not exist can and do hide from the truth.

Rumor has it that if you look at the phrase
"The UNIVERSE exists, THEREFORE, Jesus of Nazareth is the Risen Messiah!"
long enough, and repeat it out loud, often enough, it will begin to appear to seem to make PERFECT sense.

Nope. He is waiting for the perfect time, and only HE KNOWS that time.
Make me to know thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me, for thou art the God of my salvation; for thee I wait all the day long. (Psalm 25:4-5)

Our Christian God is not hiding, it is we who are hiding from Him. We have turned our backs on Him.
