Why are people now-a-days so much interest in Science when we should be studying Social science?

In this age of so much chaos and so many social issues, shouldn't we be studying social sciences and try to make a change in it? Why should we, at that time, spend our time on some stupid atoms and molecules? Shouldn't we try to make a better economical and political system?

Why can't we do both. Lots of R&D is done privately to satisfy commercial interests which, by helping the economy help supports the social sciences.

Lots of "pure research" has advanced medicine, technology and other issues with real world applications.

We need it all. If you are more interested in social sciences, then you may take just the minimum coursework needed for science, and can usually substitute biology or physics for chemistry.
