I agree with Louis O - none of those things, but I expect your teacher wants you to write "submarine". Certainly cannons and guns had been around for hundreds of years previously in large quantities, and tanks were invented in WW1.

With submarines it is difficult to be as specific - there had been some underwater vessels around before the American Civil War, but very few. In the American War of Independence (American Revolution) the British Navy was spooked on one occasion by an underwater vessel constructed by the rebels. It did no damage, but caused a British captain to move his ship to somewhere less threatening to the rebels - thus the "submarine" did have a partial military success.

Tanks weren't used until World War One. They were a British invention,

    C.

The Turtle was never used successfully,so basically didn't work in action, and if it didn't work in action it can't really be classified as a new weapon.

CSS Hunley did, however, work in action - the first time a submarine had done so.

None of the them. Cannons, guns, and a one-man submarine were first used before the Civil War and tanks were first used in WW1.

Electrically detonated mines (called torpedos at the time) Submarine Repeating rifles (Spencer and Henry) Breech Loaded Artillery (Whitworth) Rifled Artillery (Parrot) Rimfire case ammuntion (Spencer and Henry (Later Winchester)and Smith and Wesson) Gatling machine guns Iron Armored ships (Iron Clads and Monitors) Rotating Gun turrets (Monitors) Nitroglycerine Hydrogen Observation Balloons Conical bullets (Minie Balls)

All answers are wrong, there were attempts at submarine use even during the Napoleonic wars.

The correct answer is possibly MACHINE guns, as the Gatling gun was first used then.

    C. Submarines

Your teacher needs to do his or her own homework though, the Turtle was used during the American Revolutionary War. Technically all of your choices are wrong.
