    Nowadays, nothing: the Canadian mint quit pressing 1-cent coins in 2012 and began withdrawing them from circulation a year later. The last ones were copper-plated steel.

    According to Wikipedia, Canadian pennies are 94% steel, 1.5% nickel, and 4.5% copper.
