    Genesis 9:1-3

God went on to bless Noah and his sons and to say to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth. 2 A fear of you and a terror of you will continue upon every living creature of the earth and upon every flying creature of the heavens, upon everything that moves on the ground and upon all the fish of the sea. They are now given into your hand. 3 Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you. Just as I gave you the green vegetation, I give them all to you. 4 Only flesh with its life—its blood—you must not eat.

.Just like Noah and his family, we can eat any animal we desire but without its blood. More than 800 years after the flood, Ancient Israelites received rules and regulations under the law covenant. That included the prohibition of eating shrimp.

That covenant ended with Jesus' death and, consequently, dietary regulations.

In the first century, holy spirit helped the apostles arrive to the following conclusion:

    Acts 15:28-29

For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you except these necessary things: 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from what is strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you!”

    1 Timothy 4:4

4 For every creation of God is fine,+ and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

It's old Mosaic law. It had a good, practical purpose in its time. Most likely something similar to the Red Tide was going on, which would have made eating shellfish dangerous.

It's even worse when you eat shrimp while wearing mixed fabrics. Ohhhh, that darn religion.....it's just chalked full of stone aged advise that fits so well in the modern world.

Other peoples sin is always worse than your own. I think it's always a sin to disregard Gods word.

They don't because that was under the Law back in those times. We are not under the Law any more, but under Grace after Jesus died on the Cross for us.

In those days, people killed and ate for survival. Today, our feasts and waste and animal cruelty are a sin. God never intended for this.
