Why won't spider plant baby root?
Over the years I have clipped off the spider babies and put them in water and they always put out roots within a few weeks at the most. I have currently had one in water for over a month and no roots. It was on the mother plant all winter before I cut it off. Should I just throw this one away and try again? Do they ever put out roots after a month or more of being in water?

It's best to peg down a baby in a small pot of compost without removing it from the parent plant. It will root quickly and you can detach it after a few weeks.

If low on energy from the decreased winter light, it may not. They can exist only so long without a root for food gathering. Lower winter light, mother plant who might be low in energy could have contributed to this slow one. May it still? Anything is possible.
