What is the Illuminati?
Everyone at my school always talks about the illuminati but I have no idea what it is! If something freaky happens like the lights flickering or something, people will say things like "It's the Illuminati!" or "THE ILLUMINATI IS HERE!!" Is it like a book/movie/fandom reference? I just don't get it!!

They are probably referencing Dan Brown's The Divinci Code series. But they don't actually know what the Illuminati is either. It is a secret organization that *supposedly* has special enlightenment and knows things that the public, and even government, doesn't. The whole thing about it is they somehow basically rule the world behind the scenes.
So while yes, they are making a correct joke saying that the Illuminati is controlling the lights and making things happen, I seriously doubt they actually know what the Illuminati were.

They don't exist anymore. Instead we have science classes and NASA now? Basically it's a reformation group within the Christian faith. They believed in dozens of corrections like the Earth was round? That the Sun was the center of the solar system, not Earth? And it's best to look at the Illuminati like Galileo more so than Davinci! Historically both are real but Galileo was right. Earth is round.

Well people like to turn it into a big joke when it's actually true, the illuminati does exist, go to YouTube and watch the Ring Of Power full documentary and you'll have a good understanding of it.
