If my Car fails its MOT how much do you think the repairs will cost?
My MOT is next week and its my first car and first MOT I will be having done on it myself. Its a 2001 Toyota Yaris 1.0 so its quite old. It takes a while to start and doesn't sound to good but it always takes me places!
I have had problems with it before, I had a new gearbox fitted recently and a new clutch. The engine also slipped out a tiny bit so that was repaired to.
The inside of my car is great condition. Everything works, everythings fine. My right back brake light doesnt light up brighter when I press my brakes. My wipers work well, my mirrors are fine.
I'm just worried it might fail on the brake light and maybe the exhaust/suspension. I cant think of anything else that would make it unworthy of being on the road.
If it did fail on that, how much do you think that'd cost to repair? If they did it that day for me, would a re-test be free?
To the first answerer - I said that I got a new gearbox fitted and a new clutch so yes, I have repaired it before. The light has only gone out within the last week. Why should I get it fixed before the MOT when I can get it fixed at the MOT?

Here's a hint. FIX the obvious defects like the faulty brake light. It's probably just the little lamp inside the fitting, which costs a couple of dollars and maybe 2 mins with a screwdriver to change.
Then the MOT guys will have a good look at other safety things like the brakes and exhaust system, and tell you if there is anything actually wrong. If there is, you go from there.

Torture. Agony. Desperation. Anxiety. All because you have a car that is defective and has been defective for at least a year and you have done nothing to repair it? And now, facing MOT inspection you ask how much to fix unknown conditions online of invisible strangers? Oh, yeah. This is going to go very well for you.
