B. We usually graph the independent variable (the domain) on the horizontal (X) axis and the dependent on the vertical (Y) axis. The dependent variable is called such because its value depends on the independent variable. The scientists is performing an experiment to see how a known change in one variable (the independent) affects another (the dependent).
