What should I eat to lose weight?

I know I have to excercise as well, since school is out I'm going to be starting to go to the gym Monday- Friday. I don't want to go to the gym on an empty stomach and I get really hungry after working out. Any diet suggestion plans for before and after the gym and the rest of my day (meal plans)? want to focus on losing weight. I have no medical conditions (besides my weight), I'm 17, 5'4 and I weigh 235 pounds. Please help me!

I lost 10kg or 22 pounds when I was 14 in 6months. My method was to just eat clean. Look at the nutritional facts at the back of any packaging and if there's ingredients that you couldn't read don't eat it. Watch for things like Fat no more than 15grams, saturated fat no more than 5g, sugar no more than 15g, salt no more than 1.5g and sodium no more than 0.5g. By doing this your starting a healthier lifestyle. Try to think that losing weight is a journey, a journey to change by changing your food.

You don't need to follow a diet plan. Just try to cut your portion and watch your calories. I recommend 1500 cal a day.

Try to drink protein shakes after your workout and eat a banana before your workout. Don't eat a full meal after your workout or before give 2 hours after or before you workout.

I also recommend a piece of wholemeal toast or any type of carbs because you need energy from the carbohydrates to have a good workout and it will give you more power to run, lift and hold.

If you go gym do 30 minutes cardio and that's enough for 5 days a week and give the weekend a rest.

I am no professional but this method helped me and I learn VCE Physical Education and have learnt a bit of how to get a better workout and watch the food system used during the exercise or sport. Your body runs on carbohydrates first so you need some carbs to have energy.
