Why do white people...?
I've lived all my life in a heavily populated Hispanic city. We always refer to each other by our first names: Ricardo, Jose, Manuel, Eduardo, Juan, etc.
When I moved to a less Hispanic populated area, I noticed that white people called us by our last names: Martinez, Hernandez, Escobar, Cruz, Gomez, etc.
Why? I don't mind it. Just wondering.

Hispanic isn't a race. You are most likely un INDIO. So stop pretending white people didn't invent and give you the language you speak.
These are Spanish women. They would probably be called by their FIRST names here in the USA, so I don't know what you're talking about.

This isn't general behaviour by all white people. It is an "affectation" in some parts of the world. It's a carryover from certain boys schools where the pupils never addressed each other by their first names, but always used surnames.

I think that is an affectation that they adopted from movies..I have plenty of white neighbors and we addressed one another as Mr and Mrs until we got to know one another..and I don't get why people keep saying that Hispanic is not a race..yes, we know that and you never said they were just a provided info for folks to set up the question..smdh.

That's not a white person thing, as far as I know.
Um... Are you adults now? Because it's common to be referred to by your last name in the business world.

You said Why do White people...? And ''I noticed that white people called us by our last names''. Hispanic isn't a Race those are all White Spanish European names and they might call you those names because they are most Common

Well in your Hispanic city there might be more than one dude with the last name of Hernandez so it wouldn't really help to call people Hernandez. In America it is proper to address someone by their last name (mr. Nunez) and considered informal to address someone by their first name. But to make it casual/less formal but still respectful they drop the mr.
