It was a mistake, they re evaluating the information now to find out how it happened. Apparently there should ve been an automatic cutout to prevent it. There are rules and regulations as to how often kit like that needs inspecting and it d be surprising if Alton Towers haven t been doing that. They could inspect their machines more than is legally required but this would cost money so dividends to shareholders would be reduced. I found it very alarming that it took 11 minutes to phone the emergency services, how s that possible?
