How much should Russell Wilson get paid?

Let's be honest, they have to pay him. They don't have a backup that can replace him.

Before you give me crap about Wilson being overrated, let me ask you something. If QBs like Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck are so much better, why is it that Wilson was the one who played in 2 Super Bowls in a row and won his first one in only his second year (and came one horrible call away from repeating)? Yes, he has a great defense to work with, but the defense doesn't give Wilson 15 4th quarter comebacks, help him pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game, or become the only quarterback in history to rush for 100 yards and a touchdown and pass for over 200 yards and throw a touchdown in a MNF Game. He has never lost a game in overtime before (and last time I checked, the OT comebacks against the Packers and Broncos were staged entirely by Wilson).

Will Wilson ever pass for 1,000 yards in a season or throw for as many touchdowns as Rodgers, Brady, or even Luck? No, not with the Seahawks running their offense the way they do. But the point of being a quarterback is to lead your team to championships. And Wilson has done that, hasn't he? Besides, if Wilson is only good because of Marshawn Lynch, does that mean that Brady is only good because he has great WRs? Does that mean that Peyton Manning would suck if he didn't have Demaryius Thomas? Were the Patriots only good because they had Revis and Browner? Is Gronk the only reason for their success on offense?

Update:

Wilson may not be the typical franchise quarterback-he's short, doesn't pass from the pocket, and will probably never pass for over 1,000 yards. But he's been perfect for Seattle's offense. For that reason alone, he deserves to get paid.

Based on other QB's in the league, he should get at least $16 million. I'm guessing it will take at least a $20 to $22 million average in reality. The Rodgers, Flacco, and Brees contracts are dated in the quickly moving nature of the NFL salary situations. Almost every QB ends up overpriced due to supply and demand.

You got guys like Kaepernick, Dalton, Newton, Cutler, A. Smith, Stafford, Tannehill, and Ryan all making 16 to 20 million a year.

Once he gets the big bucks and stars are let go because he takes up a lot of cap room do you really believe the Seahawks are going to be as good as they are now.Pay im what ya want but it will affect them

I am guessing they will be paying him around 20 million a year.Based on what other QBs are getting!Yes they will have to pay this because like you say they are stuck. There is no replacement for a 2x Super Bowl starting QB avaiable right away

His skills do not warrant top 10 QB money but bets he will get a 6 or 8 year deal worth over $100 million. The overall QB pool in the NFL is limited.

    He's not that good.

I once scored 4 touchdowns in 1 game.
