Were the Patriots wrong to suspend Malcolm Butler?

I'm really shocked that they would do that. For one, he was late to VOLUNTARY OTAs, so it's not like he missed anything mandatory. For another, he let them know he was going to be late. It's not as though he walked into OTAs halfway through one of the workouts sipping Coke and eating a corn dog. He was late because something out of his control caused him to miss his plane. I think the Patriots were being unreasonable here.

Update:

This is kind of benching him and suspending him at the same time.

Jonas Gray pissed Belichick off by showing up late to a practice five days after he rushed for 201 yards and a franchise-record four TDs, and he was sent home and didn't play in the following game. In fact, he didn't play much the rest of the season.

Make Belichick mad and you'll regret it.

These young players have to learn that they have a responsibility to the team, and there will be consequences if they can't show up on time like the rest of the team.
