My guinea pig won't let me pick him up?
I have had a 1 year old boar (male guinea pig) for almost 4-5 months. He lets me pet him a lot, let's me feed him, and everything else EXCEPT pick him up. I understand that guinea pigs should have lap time, but he runs around panicking when I try to pick him up. He even bit me! Trust me, he lets me pet him, touch him, we are so close but I'm so bummed over this one thing. Is there any tips or advice that I should do? Even if I can't pick him up ever, I will always love him unconditionally <3

When picking him up, support him very well- make sure his bum isn't hanging loose and that you have full control over his body. Try using a hand towel and wrapping him up in it. This will make him feel more secure. Once he's in your arms, don't squeeze or panic, just stay calm and pet him. You can wear thick gloves if you're worried about being scratched or bitten. Make sure he understands that being picked up is something positive and something that he should look forward to. You can do this by giving him treats, letting him go outside (in a pen or with STRICT supervision), or letting him have free time. The more you try and the calmer you are, the better. I hope this helps and good luck with your boy :)
