Do you think the media distracts common America from bigger issues on purpose?

A lot of huge developments are happening in the US right now, like the Patriot Act situation and our constant Middle Eastern involvement. Why aren't most Americans concerned with that?

The American public is now more concerned with internet trends, celebrities, and scandals than it is with real world issues. Constant accusations of racism and police brutality fill nightly news, while ignoring other huge issues as well. It's like the US government wants news stations and magazines to distract us while they do what they want with little fight from the people. I feel these things make the public oblivious to real issues.

Police brutality is always going to be a thing, but nobody cares about our severely broken and corrupt government?

(Lots of "police brutality" could have been avoided with 10 minutes of respect and cooperation, in my opinion, but that's another topic.)

How is police brutality not an outgrowth of extreme corruption in the justice system and within local, state and federal governments? And how is it not a relevant topic when discussing this issue therein?

You seem unable to determine what is an isn't a "real" issue yourself.

To be honest: yes, I do. American media, for the most part, is a joke.
