If you apply for a credit card in the bank and are approved do you get your card right away?

Also Amazon has their deal for cash back using their card instantly. So how can you get the discount instantly if it takes time for them to send you the card?

    The card is typically produced at a central facility and mailed to you within a week.

    It's not a situation where you apply, get immediately approved, walk out with a card, and begin to spend.
