What happened to the American Dream?
America is supposed to be the land of opportunities and making your own way, but why do so many people want things handed to them?
Do Americans now feel lazy and entitled? People used to immigrate here because employees could move up the corporate ladder and become the employer. Hard work pays off. Why don't people want to work hard for nice things instead of have the government spoon feed you everything you need?

Nothing has changed....the "American Dream" is still very much alive for that small percentage of people (and it has ALWAYS been a small percentage) will to get up off their behinds and go for it....the notion that people today are any lazier or have any greater a sense of entitlement than they ever have crumbles upon inspection.....would you agree with the quote "The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."?
Socrates said that some time around 450 BCE...

What happened to the American dream?
The top 1% of self entitled Americans and corporate greed and corporate welfare has usurped it and left it virtually impossible to live anymore. Go ahead and blame the poor. The rich just keep getting richer and hoarding all that wealth while convincing you it's the poor that are to blame.

People now realize that the dream of moving up the corporate ladder was a cruel lie, sold to them by the ruling class. Our statistics on social mobility are even worse now than they were in the past. It's the inevitable outcome of unchecked capitalism.
